Obituary

Alan Roy "Al" Dye, 78, of Monticello, Indiana, died peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 5:45 p.m. at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Alan was born on Saturday, November 22, 1947, in Kentland, Indiana to James H. Dye and Ruth Ann (Heilman) Dye. They both preceded him in death.

On September 6, 2008, in Horseshoe Bend in their friends' back yard, he married Rhonda Logan. She survives.

Al grew up in Goodland, Indiana, and was a graduate of Goodland High School in 1965.  He went straight into the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Gitmo in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. After returning to the states he was hired by Anheuser Busch, now known as Tate and Lyle. Al had most recently worked for Purdue University, retiring in 2018. He loved retro video games and working crossword puzzles. Al spent many, many hours sailing on Lake Freeman.  He enjoyed watching classic movies and most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Alan is survived by his wife, Rhonda Dye of Monticello, Indiana, daughter, Marci Trippett of Brookston, Indiana, son, Scott Dye of Frankfort, Indiana, Courtney (companion Stacy) Hayden of Brookston, Indiana, and Cody Hayden of Monticello, Indiana, grandchildren, Travis Trippett, Garrett Coghill, Ashton Hayden, Koi Marquis, Haisley Hayden, and Lilly Hayden, sister and brothers-in-laws, Dixie Becker, Sandy (husband Don) Weida, Dale Logan, Cindy (husband Rex) Whitmore, and Nita (husband Brad) Pool, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Alan is preceded in death by parents, James and Ruth Ann Dye, siblings, Charles Dye and David Dye, mother and father -in-law, James and Donna Logan, sisters-in-law, Deb Rist and Connie (husband Gary) Knapp.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana.

A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana. with full military rites conducted by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard.

Burial will be private for the family.

Memorial donations can be given to St. Judes Children's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or can be mailed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105) or online donations at www.stjude.org.
