Barbara Ann "Barb" Pernell, 68, of Monticello, Indiana, died on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:25 p.m. at Indiana University Arnett Hospital of Lafayette, Indiana.
Barb was born on Saturday, July 20, 1957, in Knox, Indiana, to Martha (Kiser) and Elwood Pernell. They both preceded her in death.
Barb was born and raised in Knox, Indiana. She moved to Monticello for most of her adult life. Barb was a fun-loving person. She enjoyed needle point, shopping, writing letters to people, watching the birds, and coloring. Barb never knew a stranger and was such an outgoing individual.
Barb is survived by sister, Brenda May of Mentone, Indiana; brother Elwood Pernell, Jr. of Kentucky; nephew, Mike (wife Kellie) Cole of Mentone, Indiana and Cory Nies of Mentone, Indiana; niece, Martha Nies of LaPorte, Indiana.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana with Brad Denton officiating.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family please make checks out to Brenda May to assist with services. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or can be mailed to Brenda P.O. Box 175 Mentone, Indiana 46539, Care of Barbara.
