Obituary

Betty A. Memmer, 77, of Lafayette, Indiana (formerly of Monticello and Frankton, Indiana), died unexpectedly on Friday, October 10, 2025, at her residence in Lafayette, Indiana.

Betty was born on Saturday, June 19, 1948, in Elwood, Indiana to Harold D. Conklin and Imogene Mae (Ross) Conklin. They both precede her in death.

Betty was born and raised in Frankton, Indiana.  She was a graduate of Frankton High School and later went on to Purdue University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Betty worked in various community service jobs supporting youth and under privileged people until she found her fit at Planned Parenthood retiring after 36 years.  Throughout her life she has had a great love of animals which led to her establishing a pet sitting service in the Greater Lafayette area, since 1999, has been known by many beloved furbabies and their owners as the "Pet Nannie".

Betty is survived by her daughter, Carrie (Curtis) Chastain, sons, Brandon (Angela) Memmer, Joel (Jessica) Memmer, Justin Memmer; grandchildren, Karlie (Chuck) Shaw, Dravyn Chastain, and Freya Chastain, Beau Memmer, Ally Memmer, Camryn Memmer; five great-grandchildren, Rogin, Azlyn, Kirlani, Alaric, and Valkyrie; sister, Becky (Russell) Brashear; nieces and nephews, Danielle (Corey) Herbert and Joshua "BO" (Molly) Brashear, Jennifer Bishop, John (Veera) Bishop, and Angela (Casey) Baker; several great- nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends, Clients and their pets.

Betty is preceded in death by parents, brother, David Conklin; sister, Sandra (John) Bishop.

A celebration of life held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Building of Monticello, Indiana. (131 N. Main St., Monticello, IN 47960, please park and enter from the alley).

Burial will be private for the family at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family. Envelopes will be available at the venue or can be mailed to 601 Gordon Rd., Monticello, Indiana 47960 C/O Memmer Family.
