Carol P. Watkins, 75, of Brookston, Indiana, died on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 2:39 a.m. in the IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana.
Carol was born on Wednesday, December 21, 1949, at the farm in Brookston, Indiana to Ray K. and Pauline P. (Page) Smith.
On Saturday, June 1, 1968, on the family farm in Brookston, Indiana she married the love of her life John T. Watkins Jr., they would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this year. He survives.
Carol spent almost her entire life on the family farm in Brookston, Indiana. She was in the first graduating class of Frontier High School. She went on to business college returning to the farm to be a mom, a farm wife, and was known to be a jack of all trades. Carol was a hard-working woman, enjoying time at the daycare, and cooking for the kids. Carol and John had been foster parents off and on for many years. When she was younger, she could be found at the line dances, riding horses, camping, riding 4 wheelers, and had passion for going on rides on the motorcycle. Most of all she will be remembered for her cooking and sewing sharing with all her family, friends, and neighbors. Carol did reenactments and was an active part of the Feast of the Hunters Moon. She especially loved 4H she had been involved for over sixty years following her children, grandchildren, with the last three continuing the tradition. Carol had raised livestock, Golden Retrievers, St. Bernard's, and Huskies. She was a member of the Federated Church of Brookston and Methodist Church both of Brookston, Indiana. Carol was devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She truly loved nothing more in life than being able to help raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
Carol is survived by her husband, John T. Watkins, Jr. of Brookston, Indiana, daughters, Tammy (husband Jimmy) Gangi of New Hampshire, Tracey (husband James R.) Mitchell of Brookston, Trinity (husband Jason) Snowberger of Chalmers, Indiana, and Nikki (husband Gary) Couch of Terre Haute, Indiana, sons, Rodger (wife Shanna) DeLosh of Brookston and Stefan Howard of Beverly, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Michael Burns, Nathan Cantin, Ashton Watkins, Abby Watkins, Anthony Watkins, Tyanna Watkins, Cheyenne Golik, Rob Golik, Tearagan Snowberger, Alexia Snowberger, Trey Couch, Dominic Couch, Connor Gangi, Jackson Gangi, Jenny Mayo, Andrew Mayo, Jessie Craven, Bobby Craven, Charles DeLosh, Colton DeLosh, Jacqui DeLosh, Jozee DeLosh, and Jaylen Morgan, great-grandchildren, Miguel, Christopher, Luna, Declan, Annalynn, Cash, King, Kambree Maddison, Jayden, Caylee, sister, Jean Ann (husband Jerry) Kuhn of Amboy, Indiana.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Pauline Smith, Infant Son, sister, Rose Mary Phillips and Marilyn Fulkerson, niece, Kimmy Kuhn.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana.
A Celebration of life service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana with Pastor David Doles officiating.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.
