Chris J. Keith, 68, of Monticello, Indiana, died at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in the IU Heath White Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Chris was born on Saturday, January 11, 1958, in Lafayette, Indiana, to John M. and Wanda J. (Snodgrass) Keith. They both preceded him in death.

On Friday, June 19, 1992, in Monticello, Indiana he married Cindy Marie Capes. She survives.

Chris was a 1976 graduate of Jefferson High School of Lafayette, Indiana. He later attended Purdue University and began work at Alcoa in 1977  where he did his electrician apprenticeship. Chris later went to work for Ball formerly Bev-Pak and retired from Chrysler after 32 years. He was an avid golfer, loved playing darts, bowling, fishing, and basketball. Chris was a Cubs fan and Purdue Boilermaker fan and enjoyed Nascar, going to many races over the years. Chris will always be remembered for his fun-loving nature, love of music and singing karaoke at his favorite local watering holes. A passionate supporter of his daughters' military careers. Chris could also almost always be found playing video games with his sons. He entrusted his health and life with his daughter Jess. Chris had the biggest heart and helped several people over the years and was a safe haven to transitioning/aiding others. Most of all Chris was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather

Chris is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Capes - Keith of Monticello, Indiana; children, Jessica (husband Mark) Corso, Greer (husband Marcus) Andrade, Josh (wife Kalan) Collard, and Tori (husband Jacob) Bowers; mother, Mary Ann Keith; siblings, Connie Georgek, Craig M. (wife Nancy) Keith, Cindy Miller, and Susan (husband Kevin) Fultz; endeared uncle, Ralph Capes; grandchildren, Makynlee Corso, Natalee Corso, Kylie Andrade, Kaida Collard, Rowan Collard, Theodore Collard, Adelaide Collard, Kileah Collard, Karter Collard, Xavier Collard, Xyla Collard, and Nellie Knight; mother-in-law, Judy (husband Roger) Owens; brother-in law, Tim (wife Nicole) Capes, sisters-in-law, Michelle Nethercutt and Danita (husband John) Greene; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Chris is preceded in death by his father, John Keith, mother, Wanda Dilling; son, Todd Alan "TC" Collard; father-in-law, Charlie Capes;

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Chris's life will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 12:00 (noon) until 4:00 p.m. at the AmVets Post 91, located at 219 Northwestern Ave, Monticello, Indiana 47960.  

Burial will be private for the family in the IOOF Riverview Cemetery or rural Monticello, Indiana.
