Obituary

Glen Earl Peters, 77 of Indianapolis, Indiana, died at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Glen was born on Monday, December 9, 1946 in Idaville, Indiana, to Bruno and Thelma (Hathaway) Peters. They preceded him in death.

On Saturday, January 8, 1966 in Idaville, Indiana he married Betty Jean "Jean" Preston, she survives.

Glen was born and raised in Idaville, Indiana. He attended the Idaville Schools until consolidation graduating from the Twin Lakes High School of Monticello, Indiana.  He then went onto graduate from the International Business College of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Glen had lived and traveled through several cities, starting in the Idaville/ Burnettsville area for 19 years, Ft. Wayne area for 22 years, El Paso, Texas, for 4 to 5 years, Linton, Indiana, Owensboro, Kentucky, Santa Claus, Indiana, and finally settling down in Indianapolis, Indiana for the past 6 years.  Glen was a Finance Manager and Materials Manager for over 39 years with General Electric retiring in 2007.  He was extremely active in his church in every city he had lived, always joining as a member and serving as a deacon.  He was currently a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Greenwood, Indiana. Glen was an avid fisherman, coin collector, card player, and loved spending time with his grandkids.

Glen is survived by his wife, Betty "Jean" Peters of Indianapolis, Indiana, children, John Peters of Peculiar, Missouri, James Peters of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jessica (husband Todd) Youmans of Indianapolis, Indiana, Freddy (wife Melissa) Saucedo of El Paso, Texas, grandchildren, Andrew Youmans, Matthew Youmans, Lillie Youmans, Eliza Youmans, Lexis Saucedo, AJ Saucedo, Nicci Pigott, great-granddaughter, Ky'zleana Scott, sister, Anita Smith, brothers, Jerry (wife Ruth) Peters and Allan Dean Peters, sister-in-law, Linda (husband Jack) Baker, brother-in-law, Bud (wife Virgina) Preston, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Thelma Peters, sisters, Mary Alice (husband Bob) Caughell, Christine (husband Dick) Reynolds, his father and mother-in-law, Roy and Betty Preston, brother-in-law, Charles "Smitty" Smith.

Gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.  on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at the Deibels Funeral Home, 601 Gordon Road, Monticello, Indiana with his best friend Dwight Howard sharing the message and prayers by Jon Baron.

Burial will follow in the Idaville Cemetery of Idaville, Indiana with Jerry Peters and Gregg Caughell offering the committal service.

An additional Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 200 Sunset Blvd., Greenwood, Indiana.
