Gregory A. "Greg" Anderson, 55, of Portage, Indiana, died on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. in the Northwestern Hospital of Chicago, Illinois after a hard battle with a short illness surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Greg was born on Saturday, May 2, 1970, in Monticello, Indiana to Charles L. "Chuck" and Cheryl E. (Whiteman) Anderson.
Greg was raised in Idaville, Indiana, and was a 1988 graduate of the Twin Lakes High School. On September 23, 1995, Greg married Trisha Halcomb, who he met as employees of the Indiana State Police, where he was a dispatcher and Motor Carrier Inspector. He worked at Cleveland Cliffs, Burns Harbor in quality control and enjoyed volunteering for the local fire department.
Greg was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. he loved deeply and compassionately. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and visiting his favorite places like Kentucky, Hawaii, Florida or wherever the cruise ship would take him. He loved a breakfast restaurant and a good cup of coffee. He loved his fur babies, Cole, Peppermint and Ziggy. Greg was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Cubs, where he enjoyed going to games with his brother.
Greg is survived by his wife, Trish Anderson of Portage, Indiana, mother, Cheryl Anderson of Idaville, Indiana, brothers, Jeff (Theresa) Anderson and Bret Anderson both of Idaville, Indiana, paternal grandmother, Dorothy Marshall, nieces, Hailey and Ashley Anderson, Steffane (Michael) Hynes and several aunts, uncles, step-nieces, nephews and cousins.
Greg is preceded in death by his father, Charles Lynn "Chuck" Anderson, mother-in-law, Clara (Combs) Halcomb, and father-in-law, Howard Halcomb, maternal grandparents, Herb and Zelma Whiteman, and paternal grandfather, Charles A. Anderson, uncles, Fred Whiteman and David Henke, and Harold Gooden, and cousin, Deanne Schauer.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. (EDT) and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. (EDT) on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana.
A celebration of life service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. (EDT) at the Deibels Funeral Home, with Pastor Aaron Smith of the Sovereign Grace Bible Church of Monticello Officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hughes Cemetery of rural Monticello, Indiana.
