Jacob Duane "2Tall / Jake" Sheets, 41, of Lafayette, Indiana, died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at his residence in Lafayette, Indiana.

Jake was born on Monday, November 12, 1984, in Anaheim, California to Lisa Nobile and Jeff D. Sheets.

Jake was raised in Lafayette, Indiana, he was a 2003 graduate of Jefferson High School. He began working at Packaging Systems of Indiana in Lafayette, Indiana where he currently was the Warehouse Operations Manager. Jake also was the Director for Lafayette Recreational Sports from 2012 to the present. His devotion to the game was president as he umpired several years prior to that and ran the last tournament from his bed. Jake was an avid San Fransico 49er's fan. His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving; showing his absolute love for food. He was a great cook and never let anyone leave hungry. He could be found on his couch binge watching tv shows. Jake was known for stinking up the whole house with his buttered popcorn. He never forgot anything and his retention of gift giving was exceptional. He was a huge country music fan, singing off tune, and making his presence known everywhere he went. Though these things were his fun, he was constantly working spending all day at his real job and spending all night setting up his drafts, all the leagues, and organizing spring, summer, fall leagues at Lyboult Sports Complex, and winter leagues at Legacy Sports. Jake was the hardest working individual anyone would ever meet, and he never knew a stranger. Jake was exceptionally good at helping anyone and everyone in need, He treated everyone like they were family, from raising money for friends in times of crisis by putting on special softball events or bringing the community together to help in various ways. Jake had a heart of gold that couldn't be dimmed. He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him.

Jake is survived by his mother, Lisa J. Nobile of Lafayette, Indiana; daughters, Annabelle J. Sheets and Audrey M. Tyler both of Lafayette, Indiana; fiancée Cassandra M. Tyler of Lafayette, Indiana; brother, Justin C. (wife Julie) Sheets of Lafayette, Indiana, nieces and nephews, Keegan, Treston, Aiden, and Delanie Brumley all of Lafayette, Indiana; aunt, Jesslyn J. Nobile of Lafayette, Indiana; cousins, Melissa J. Barrett, Shawn R. Nobile, Zachary S. Barrett, Zoe J. Coar, Mayce J. Nobile, Dawson L. Nobile, Olivia J. Coar, and Wrenleigh J. Coar all of Lafayette, Indiana. mother and father-in-law, Dawn & Marshall Washington of Bainbridge, Indiana; brother-in-law, Danny (wife Katie) Lee of Texas; sister-in-law, Bella (husband Nick) Lieske of Crawfordsville, Indiana; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jake is preceded in death by his father, Jeff Sheets July 6, 2014; maternal grandma, Barbara J. Nobile; maternal grandfather, Carmen F. Nobile; paternal grandmother, Bethel Sheets; paternal grandfather, Duke Sheets; aunt, Margaret A. Nobile.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2026, at the Eagles Aerie #347 located at 3208 S. 18th St., Lafayette, IN 47909, please wear your favorite jersey in honor of 2Tall

Burial will be private for the family.
