Obituary

James E. "Jim" Lingenfelter, 75, of Monticello, Indiana, died peacefully at 1:15 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025, at the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital with his family by his side.

Jim was born on Tuesday, January 31, 1950, in Logansport, Indiana to Aldie Lingenfelter, II. and Anah F. (Bell) Lingenfelter. They both preceded him in death.

On Friday, May 8, 1970, he married Luanne "Lu" McCoskey at her parents' home in Monticello, Indiana.

Jim was born and raised in White County, Indiana. He was a 1968 graduate of the Twin Lakes High School of Monticello.  Jim then went on to International Business College of Fort Wayne, Indiana earning his associate's degree.  He worked most of his life in local sales. Jim had spent over thirty years umpiring and refereeing baseball and basketball.  Jim started every day at the big round table in Kinser's Bakery for his coffee, donut, and gossip. He could always be found working in his yard or supporting his favorite athlete, Kelsey.

Jim is survived by his son, Jason (Jennifer) Lingenfelter of Monticello; granddaughter, Kelsey; sister, Karen (Jim) Goodnough of Granger, Indiana; brother, Joe (Jan) Lingenfelter of Carmel, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Pam McCoskey of Indianapolis and Jessica "Jay" Surber (Rob) of Marshall, Michigan; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Aldie and Anah F. (Bell) Lingenfelter; wife, Luanne "Lu" (McCoskey) Lingenfelter; granddaughter, Kylie Lingenfelter; brothers, Aldie Lingenfelter, III. and John Mark Lingenfelter.

No public services will be held per Jim's wishes

In Lieu of flowers memorial donation may be given to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or can be mailed to American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741).
