James Frederick "Jim" Rowland, 74, of Monticello, Indiana went to be with his lord and savior after a short diagnosis of cancer. On Saturday, October 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born on Monday, June 5, 1950, in Indianapolis, Indiana to James Franklin Rowland and Lida B. (Stanger) Rowland. They both preceded him in death.

On Wednesday, May 29, 1974, in Monticello, Indiana, he married Susan Christine Lind, just celebrating 50 years of marriage. She survives.

Jim was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and was a graduate of the Ben Davis High School of Indianapolis.  Jim moved to the Monticello area in 1969. He was a volunteer of the Idaville Fire Department for many years.   Jim had worked as a Maintenance man for several local companies including Alloy Rod, Landis & Gyr of Lafayette, and Truflight Arrow of the Monticello area. He retired in 2017 as their Maintenance Supervisor.  Jim was a member of the Faith Covenant Fellowship Church of Monticello, Indiana. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle.  Jim never knew a stranger and will be missed by all that knew him.

Jim is survived by his wife, Susan C. Rowland of Monticello, Indiana, children, Judy (husband Denny) Buschman of Reynolds, Indiana, Rob (wife Tammy) Bilderback of Idaville, Indiana, Jill (companion John Alexander) Roth of Monticello, Indiana, Holly (husband Richard) Pettiner of Delphi, Indiana, 15 grandchildren, Meagan, Robby, William, Sam, Amanda, Daniel, DJ, Olivia, Grant, Molly, Chrissy, Kameron, Addie, Hallie, Chloie, 14 great-grandchildren, Rhett, Mae, Asher, James, Jace, Declan, Arrionna, Kai, Mason, Liam, Nevaeh, Harmony, Ryanna, and two on the way, siblings, Sherry (husband Gary) Pennington, Terry Adamson, Randy (wife Carol) Rowland and Lee (wife Gayle) Rowland,  several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Lida B. (Stanger) Rowland, mother and father-in-law, Robert and Marilyn Lind, brother-in-law, Bob Adamson.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana.

A celebration of life service will follow on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana, with Pastor Ross Terry officiating.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.
