James Lowell (Rifle) Reynolds, age 75, put on his eternal hunting and fishing gear as the gates of heaven opened at 2:04 on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Jim was born on August 17, 1951, in Logansport, Indiana to Robert Jack and Helen Esther (Redding) Reynolds. He was a 1969 graduate of Frontier High School.

Jim was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Those who knew him understood his deep love of nature and the wonders of God’s creation. An avid hunter, trapper, fisherman, and marksman will be remembered for his loyalty to family and friends. One of his proudest accomplishments was the log home he built with the help of those he loved.

Jim was no stranger to hard work and believed in giving an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay. His jobs ranged from fast food work and serving as a Culligan Man to welding, working as a licensed fur buyer, and factory work. He retired from Sun Chemical after 27 years.

He was a member of the Federated Church of Brookston. Jim’s faith in God remained steadfast, and his knowledge of the Bible was remarkable. He believed God always answered his prayers, though not always in the way he hoped.

Jim married Connie June (Bailey) Reynolds, his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, on August 22, 1970.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; his son, Alexander Nicholas (Chris) Reynolds; his brother, Robert Bruce Reynolds; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; one “adopted daughter” great-niece, Deangela (Bailey) Newman, affectionately known as “his girl”; and his friend of 67 years, Gordon Cochran.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Terry Leigh Reynolds and Forrest Nicholas “Nick” Reynolds; his sisters-in-law, Gloria Diann Reynolds and Linda Kay Reynolds; and his brother-in-law, George Terry Bailey.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at the Federated Church of Brookston, 202 South Wood Street, Brookston, Indiana. A meal to be served immediately after in the church Fellowship Hall. Per the families request casual attire and your favorite camo pattern is encouraged.
