Obituary

Janette M. (Shaffer) Miller Horton, 92, of Delphi, Indiana, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:38 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, with her loving family by her side.

Janette was born on Saturday, May 12, 1934, at home in Carroll County, Indiana, to Lewis H. and Opal (Hicks) Shaffer. They both preceded her in death.

She was previously married to Max Edward Miller Jr.  He died on June 28, 1993. She then married Louie D. Horton, he died on May 26, 1999.

Janette was born in raised in Carroll County, Indiana. She was a 1952 graduate of the Camden High School of Camden, Indiana. Janette worked as an LPN at the Logansport State Hospital for over 30 years and then as matron at the Carroll County Jail.

Janette is survived by her children, Debra K. (husband Brad) Groninger of Noblesville, Pamela A. "Pam" Wallace of Delphi, Cynthia J. "Cindy" Neff of Delphi, and Max E. (wife Regina) Miller, III. of Delphi; grandchildren, Kristopher Groninger of Elwood, Kelli Hosey of Carmel, Kaci Siebrase of Zionsville, Cari Henderson of Monticello, Brian Wallace of Colburn, Jeremy Miller of Delphi, Janell Workinger, of Delphi, Misty Elburn of Royal Center; 14 great-grandchildren and 10 bonus great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol Maroney of Lucerne; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

Janette was preceded in death by her loving parents; siblings, Wilma L. Greco, Bonnie Ross, Max (wife Judy) Shaffer, Judy Adams; brothers-in-law, Larry Maroney, Joseph Greco, Richard Ross; daughter, Opal Leeann Hunt; granddaughter, Jacklyn Wallace; grandson, Lukas Hunt; sons-in-law, Jack Wallace, Skeeter Hunt and Dwayne "Skip" Neff.

A private burial for family members will take place in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens of Carroll County, Indiana.
