Obituary

Jennifer L. Johnson, 51, of Monticello, Indiana, formerly of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away unexpectedly at 12:28 p.m., on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at her residence in Monticello, Indiana.

Jen was born on Monday, August 4, 1975, in Charleston, West Virgina to C. Odean and Anita (Baker) Lawson, they both preceded her in death.

Jenny born and raised in Indiana moving to Texas in 1987 and was a 1994 graduate of Sharpstown High School in Houston, Texas. She worked for many local businesses in Houston, Texas ranging from office assistant to managerial positions.  During 911 she worked with Verizon connecting families with their loved ones.  Jen loved to sing and sang in the choir at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. She loved being outside, enjoy her time on the lake, and her greatest joy was serving God and being with her nieces and nephews. 

Jennifer is survived by her sisters, Patricia A. (husband Roger) Gross of Monticello, Indiana, Karen (husband Russ) Korbe of League City, Texas, Carol (husband Steve) Locke of Dallas, Texas, Amy Doyle of Denison, Texas, Tammy Kane of Sugar Land, Texas; nieces and nephews, Emily (husband Chris) Albaugh of Flora, Indiana, Megan (Fiancé Chris Currens) Doyle of Denison, Texas, Mason (Cali Espino) Doyle of Bonham, Texas,  Troy Kane, Caleb Kane, Aaron Kane, and Abigail Kane all of Sugar Land, Texas; great-nephews, Emerson and Arie Albaugh of Flora, Indiana; several cousins and friends.

Jennifer was preceded in death by parents; brother, Clarence Lawson, Jr.; sister, Linda Armstrong; brother-in-law, Scot Armstrong; nephew, John William Gross

A gathering of family and friends followed by celebration of life service will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on November 27, 2026, at the Guernsey Church of the Brethren.

Burial will follow at the IOOF Riverview Cemetery of rural Monticello, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be given to Guernsey Church of the Brethren. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home, church, or can be mailed to 2015 E. 325 N. Monticello, Indiana 47960 C/O Jennifer Johnson.
