Jimmy Douglas Tieben,75, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 17th, 2025, in Monticello, Indiana, with his family by his side.
Jim's Life and Legacy started on Wednesday, October 4, 1950, in Muncie, Indiana, Jimmy was the son of the late George and Fairy Tieben. He was a proud 1968 graduate of the Twin Lakes High School of Monticello, Indiana, where he met his beloved wife, the late Linda Kay (Rumple) Tieben.
A true tradesman, Jimmy was known as a "jack of all trades." His expertise ranged across plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry—there was truly little he could not accomplish with his hands. Beyond his professional skills, he was a pillar of his community and a friend to all who knew him.
Jimmy was not just an avid baseball fan, but a staple of the sport. He dedicated an incredible fifty years of service to Little League, including twelve respected years as a District Administrator. This lifelong commitment was where he fostered his deep community connections, forming many of his most cherished, lifelong friendships while sharing his passion with generations of young players.
Jimmy will be remembered for his unshakable strength of character, his effortless ability to make a friend wherever he went, and his deep, unwavering bond with his family.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Mary Lynn Smith and her husband Shawn Smith, of Monticello, Indiana; six grandchildren and their spouses: Haylie Brehob and husband Eric Brehob, Jordan Smith, Noah Sharp and wife Allyson Sharp, Shawn Smith Jr. and wife Skylar Smith, Amanda Johnston and husband Jeremiah Johnston, and Jimmy Smith; and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brothers, Jerry and Joe Tieben, and his sister, Jill Cade all of Monticello.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Jim Cade, and his cherished wife, Linda Kay Tieben.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 25th from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. at Deibels Funeral Home in Monticello, Indiana.
A Celebration of Jim's life will follow at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2024, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana with Pastor Adam Morris of the Hickory Grove Chruch officiating.
Burial will be private for the family.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or can be mailed to the funeral home.
