John Edward Deno, 69, of Monticello, Indiana, died unexpectedly at 6:27 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at his residence.

John was born on Tuesday, Aril 30, 1957 in Lafayette, Indiana, to Raymond Edward "Ray" and Genevieve Frances (Miiller) Deno. They both preceded him in death.

John was born and raised in White County and was a 1976 North White High School graduate. He was a former employee of Bassett Rotary Tool of Monticello, Caterpillar of Lafayette, and Chrysler of Kokomo, Indiana.  John retired as a machinist and a farmer.  He had farmed on and with family most all of his life. John loved and enjoyed the outdoors, he was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, motorcycle riding, and camping. He could be found every single morning on his back porch drinking a cup of coffee and reading the paper.    

John is survived by his son, Augustus "Gus" Deno of Monticello, Indiana; brothers, Ronald (wife Lynn) Deno of Monticello, Indiana, Steve (wife Debbie) Deno of Gosport, Indiana, and Jerry (wife Karen) Deno of Wolcott, Indiana; former sister-in-law, Mary Lou (husband John) Long of Reynolds, Indiana, brother-in-law, Art Hook of Wolcott, Indiana; aunt, Martha Deno of Brook, Indiana; nieces and nephews, Gabe (wife Polly) Deno and Josh (wife Lindsey) Deno, Tim Hook, Emily (husband Kent) Rhodenbaugh, Sarah Hook, and Kristina Hook, Jeremy (wife Jane) Deno, Jenny (husband Chris) Siemers, Angela (husband Tony) Tate and Edward (wife Jennifer) Deno, Darrell Powell, Shane Townsend, Ashlee Wright, and Zachary Deno, several great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond E. "Ray" and Genevieve Deno; brother, Charles "Chuck" Deno; sister, Beverly Hook.

Gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana.

Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana with Luke Deno officiating.

Burial will follow at Hughes Cemetery of rural Monticello, Indiana.
