John Perz, Sr., age 70, formerly of Cicero Illinois, currently residing in Monticello Indiana, passed away on Monday, September 28th, after a 7-year battle with cancer. John is survived by his partner-in-crime of more than 20 years, Gerri Salvatore, his beloved cat, Tootsie and his sons John “Jay” (Ashley) Perz, Jr., Jordan (Vannessa) Perz and his granddaughter Kassidee Lynn Perz. John is also survived by his sisters Ramona (Nick) Hall of Batavia, Illinois, Carole (Steve) Zoven, of Lakeview, Arkansas, and Frances Stevens, of Rockford, Illinois, his former wife and friend Lynn Sullivan, along with numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents Sophie (Szczepan) and Frank Perz.

John was a retired bricklayer of Illinois Local 74/Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers ADC1 of IL, receiving his 40-year anniversary pin and jacket in March, 2025. John was an avid bowler for many years and grew up playing softball in Cicero and also with his sons’ team, the Outcasts, in Itasca and Elk Grove Village.

John was extremely proud of his sons and their accomplishments as they grew up into successful, family-loving men.
