Joshua Kane "Josh" Van Meter, 54 of Idaville, Indiana, died at 9:11 p.m., on Monday, November 17, 2025, at his residence.
Josh was born on Thursday, March 4, 1971, in Monticello, Indiana to William G. and Linda L. (Hayden) Van Meter. They survive.
Josh was a 1989 graduate of the North White School of Monon, Indiana. After high school he immediately left and became a farm aide in Princeston, Missouri for 30 years. Josh returned as an equipment hauler Howard and Sons John Deere of Monticello, Indiana. Josh was an avid book reader and found great comfort in submerging himself into 1000's.
Joshua is survived by his mother, Linda L. Van Meter of Monticello, Indiana, father, William "Bill" and Diane Van Meter of Monticello, Indiana, sister, Molly E. Carlson of Wheatfield, Indiana, brother Cory S. VanMeter of Idaville, Indiana, step sisters, Melissa Christy of Greenwood, Indiana and Anna (husband Erich) A'Costa of San Antonio, Texas, step-brother, Everett (wife Shannon) Metzger of Monticello, Indiana; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Joshua was preceded in death maternal grandparents, Clyde and Gertie Hayden, paternal grandparents, Robert and Evelyn Van Meter.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana.
A celebration of Joshua's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana with Nephew Keyton Brewer officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hughes Cemetery, Monticello, Indiana.
Memorial Contributions may be given to the family.
