Judy C. Atkinson, 87, of Hammond, Indiana (formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio), passed away at 11:10 a.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center of Monticello, Indiana.

Judy was born on Thursday, January 5, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Robert Pepples, Sr. and Ruth (Hahn) Pepples. They both preceded her in death.

On March 23, 1970, in Cincinnati Ohio she married Francis Atkinson. He passed away December 3, 1994.

Judy was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio moving to Hammond, Indiana in 1972.  She was a cashier at Carl's Deluxe for fifteen years.  Judy was a beloved wife, great mother, and grandmother.  Judy loved to spend time in her flower gardens.  She enjoyed watching her crime shows on TV, crossword puzzles, and playing cards.  Judy loved music and could be caught singing, all the gospels and Elvis.  She was very outgoing, outspoken, and possessed a quick wit. 

Judy is survived by her daughter, Debbie (James Hall) Atkinson of Francesville, Indiana; grandchildren, Carrie, Jamie, James, Penny, Perry, Mitchell, David, Stasi, Tyler, Keith, and Jessica; great grandchildren, Damien, Felicity, Julee, Crystal, Isabell, Elizjah, Addy, Lakotah, Riley, Michelle, Chelsea, Kylee, Ava, Melody, Carson, Kaia, Junior, and Alana; great-great- grandchildren, Karsen, Harper, Victoria, and Vivian; brothers, Robert Pepples, Jr. and Roger Pepples; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Ricky Wesley and Chris Atkinson; daughter, Sandy Jo Rippe; grandson, Kody Atkinson

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Burial will be private for the family.
