Lester Eugene
"Gene" Geisler
July 19, 1935 – November 17, 2025
Lester Eugene "Gene" Geisler of Winamac, Indiana, awaiting the completion of his new home, he was granted an even better one in Heaven at 9:34 p.m., on Monday, November 17, 2025, at his son and daughter-in-law's home where he resided since his house fire this past April, with his family by his side.
Eugene was born on Thursday, July 19, 1935, in Seafield, Indiana, to Willard Geisler and Pearl (Dulin) Geisler. They both preceded him in death.
Eugene was a 1953 graduate of the Buffalo High School of Buffalo, Indiana, where he lettered in basketball, cross country, and track & field. He was then drafted into the Army and was stationed in Germany where he met the mother of his children, Waltraud "Wally" Bulington; she survives. He returned home to his passion of farming and farmed his entire life, still running the combine at the age of 89 and recently made the comment that he didn't think he would have to quit farming this early! One of his first side jobs was building the last bridge in White County on State Road 39, when he was fifteen years old. Known for working constantly: moving house trailers, sand blasting, working in a sawmill, Geyer Manufacturing, the old Monon Trailer, and loved selling firewood. Gene will always be remembered for his favorite job of being Santa Claus and touching the lives of so many area children, he never lost his Ho Ho Ho! He was a member of Grace Community Baptist Church of Monticello, Indiana and most recently when he was able attended the First Baptist Church of Monon, Indiana.
Eugene is survived by his daughter, Linda Mohler of Monticello, Indiana; son, Hans (wife Cynthia) Geisler of Monticello (Buffalo area), Indiana; grandchildren, Stacy & Matt Quasebarth of Whiteland, Indiana, Jessica & Chad Davenport of Monticello, Indiana, Kyle & Libby Geisler of Peru, Indiana, Adam Mohler of Monticello, Indiana, Nicki Stoll of Burbank, California and Angela & Mike Sheppard of Itasca, Illinois; 15 great-grandchildren, Koleson, Delaney, Ainsley, Carson, Kaydence, Abi, Coraline, Carter, Carlee, Cain, Emily, Adrianna, AJ, Maddie, Gianna; one great-great-granddaughter, Wrenley; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by parents, Willard and Pearl Geisler; sisters, Margaret Ledford and Beverly Adair; nephews, Randy Ledford, Rodney Adair, and Timothy Ledford.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 (noon) on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Monon First Baptist Church of Monon, Indiana, 408 Arch Street, Monon, Indiana 47959.
