Mark Allen Johnson, 66, of Monticello, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 5, 2026, in Marietta, Georgia.
Mark was born on Sunday, October 11, 1959, in Frankfort, Indiana to Kay Shields and Ben Johnson.
On Saturday, May 31,1980, in Richmond, Indiana he married Cynthia "Cindy" Wright at St. Andrews Catholic Church. She survives.
Mark was raised by a hard-working, single mother in Whitewater, Indiana. He graduated from Northeastern High School of Fountain City, Indiana where he met the love of his life. He attended and graduated from ITT of Indianapolis, Indiana, in computer technology. Mark worked at Burroughs in Indianapolis, Indiana for seven years, and Komputrol / Boyce for the next 40 years. Mark enjoyed making wine with Cindy in their spare time, taking his wife on boat rides, playing cards with his brothers-in-law and mother-in-law, and listening to loud 70's/country music. He was known for fixing anything and everything. Mark was a master carpenter, doing his woodworking in the garage. He especially loved helping others with projects. Mark was a devoted catholic man and completely dedicated to his family.
Mark is survived by his wife, Cindy Johnson of Monticello, Indiana, daughter, Amanda (husband Daniel) Houchens of Zionsville, Indiana, son, Frank (wife Ashley) Johnson of Tampa, Florida, grandchildren, Mark Johnson, Brady Johnson, Logan Johnson, James Houchens, Emmy Johnson, Michael Houchens, Matthew Houchens, Maggie Houchens, and Clara Houchens, mother, Kay Johnson of Monticello, Indiana, siblings, Steve (wife Cathy) Johnson of Richmond, Indiana and Linda (husband Dennis) Hopkins of Knoxville, Tennessee, father-in-law, Jack Wright of Monticello, Indiana, brother-in-law, John (wife Dotty) Wright of Monticello, Indiana, sister-in-law, Mary (husband Paul) Fliehman of New Paris, Ohio, Joyce (husband Greg) Deitz of Monticello, Indiana, Judy (husband Rob) Houseman of Richmond, Indiana, Beth (husband Brad) Hester of Westfield , Indiana, and special cousin, Jim (wife Adrienne) Cramer of Denver, Colorado, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Ben Johnson, sister, Marcia Booher, and mother-in-law, Rita Wright.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana.
A Roman Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church of Monticello, Indiana.
Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery of Reynolds, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to Birthright of Delphi, Inc. or in the form of Masses offered for Mark. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
