Michael "Mike" DeWitt, 72 of Logansport, Indiana, died at 2:58 a.m., on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, in the Chase Center of Logansport, Indiana with his family by his side.
Mike was born on Tuesday, January 27, 1952, in Winamac, Indiana, to Everett DeWitt, Jr. and E. Maxine (Gellinger) Dewitt. They both preceded him in death.
On Saturday, September 14, 1996, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee he married the love of his life Susan F. Hamer. She died on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.
Mike was born and raised in Star City, Indiana. He had resided in Star City, Texas, Montana, Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Louisiana before returning to Logansport, Indiana. He drove cross country as an over the road truck driver for most of his life. Mike was an avid fisherman, enjoyed the outdoors and being on the water. He had a passion for John Wayne movies and loved his cats. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses, doctors, Chase Center, and Gurdian Angel Hospice for exceptional care and devotion to Mike.
Mike is survived by his children, William "Bill" (wife Jenny) Zarse of Logansport, Indiana, Micki (husband Todd) Lewis of Lafayette, Indiana, twins Terri DeWitt of Goodland, Indiana, and Danny (wife Judy) DeWitt of Wheatfield, Indiana; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Gail (wife Dorthy) DeWitt of Logansport, Indiana, Kenny (wife Cindy) DeWitt of Emmons, North Dakota, Sharon DeWitt-Bales of Galveston, Indiana, Barry (wife Susan) DeWitt of Star City, Indiana; step-daughters, Sherry (husband Jay) Long of Durham, North Carolina and Kimberly (husband Nay) Vickers of Stroud, Oklahoma and 13 nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Everett DeWitt, Jr, and E. Maxine (Gellinger) DeWitt; wife, Susan F. Hamer; sister, Judy DeWitt-Warner and brother-in-law, Russell Warner.
No public visitation or services are scheduled at this time. A private family service followed by burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family.
