Obituary

Michael L. "Mike" Taber, 50, of Monticello, Indiana, died very unexpectedly on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in a motor vehicle accident in rural Monticello, Indiana.

Mike was born on Monday, July 30, 1973, in Jasper, Indiana to Patricia Flick and Les Taber.  They both preceded him in death.

On June 15, 2021, in Monticello, Indiana, he married Cheryl Sullivan the love of his life after 20 plus years of being together.  She survives.

Mike was born and raised in Jasper, Indiana.  He went on to start his own company AMHS (Affordable Mobile Home Services) moving mobile homes in Indiana.  Mike then expanded his working experience, transporting mobile homes for himself and others. He also obtained his CDL driving for IMI, Oscar Winski, and Venture Logistics. Mike was a big part coaching his boys t-ball teams, taking them fishing, camping, and all the family vacations. He loved mushroom hunting, going to the state festivals (Apple Popcorn, Covered Bridge, Feast of the Hunters Moon, Etc..)  Mike enjoyed cooking, gaming, and doing odds and ends around the house.  He had a passion for gardening and taking care of his yard.  Mike was a very family-oriented man and loved spending as much time as possible with them.

Mike is survived by his wife, Cheryl Taber of Monticello, Indiana; children, Devin (Katie) Taber of Culter, Indiana, Kaleb (Christa) Taber of Monticello, Indiana, Taylor (Dustin) Hoover of San Pierre, Indiana, William Holmes of Monticello, Indiana, and Shianne (Nick) Holmes of Newark, Delaware; grandchildren, Max Taber and one on the way, Tyke, Liam, and Damian Hoover, Marissa and Melody Holmes; siblings, Bobby (Margie) Taber and Connie (Jim) Taber; mother-in-law, Tamie Bever; father-in-law, John Sullivan; brothers-in-law, John Sullivan, Jason Sullivan, and Justin (Katie) Patterson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia and Les Taber; daughter, Delaney Taber; brother, Butch Taber.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana with Pastor Russ Alley of the Yeoman and Reynolds United Methodist Church officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or can be mailed to 601 Gordon Rd., Monticello, IN 47960 C/O Taber Family.
