Paula Joan (Arbuckle) Newgent, 67, of Monticello, Indiana, died at 12:01 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026, at her residence with her husband by her side.

Paula was born on Friday, November 21, 1958, in Monticello, Indiana, to Paul Alva and Ethel Bernice (Eldridge) Arbuckle. They both preceded her in death.

On October 8, 1973, in Florida, she married Joseph R. "Joe" Newgent. He survives.

Paula was born and raised in the Monticello area. She attended Twin Lakes High School and graduated in 1976. Paula was an active member of the Redmens Tribe #518, Eagles (F.O.E) Aries #2570, VFW Auxiliary #2231, and AmVets Auxilary Post #91 all of Monticello, Indiana. She also was a proud sponsor and member of the Howard County Vietnam Veterans Organization and had been attending the reunions for over 35 years.

Paula is survived by her loving husband, Joe Newgent of Monticello, Indiana; daughter, Diana (husband Mike) Rayburn of Reynolds, Indiana; granddaughter, Shelby (husband Jacob) Priest of Reynolds, Indiana; special nieces, Brukentta (husband Scott) Lytle of Reynolds, Indiana; several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Paula is preceded in death by her father, Paul Alva Arbuckle, Mother and Ethel Bernice (Eldridge) Arbuckle - Malone; son, Troy J. Newgent; Infant Sister, Michelle Lynn Arbuckle; brothers, Larry Joseph Arbuckle and Paul William Arbuckle; stepfather, Lyman Woodrow "Pat" Malone.

A graveside committal will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, in the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery of rural Monticello, Indiana with Elder Jay Janke officiating. 

A gathering of family and friends will immediately follow from 12:00 (noon) till 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Redmens Lodge #518 located at 422 N. Main St., Monticello, Indiana 47960.
