Robert Ross Barrett, Sr., 85, of Wolcott, Indiana, died at 2:30 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, in the Legacy Unit of the White Oak Health Campus of Monticello, Indiana.
Bob was born on Wednesday, April 17, 1940, in Brookston, Indiana to Mason Luther and Ida Catherine (Price) Barrett. They both preceded him in death.
On Saturday, November 11, 1972, in Monticello, Indiana he married Thelma Ilene Griffin. She died on Wednesday, September 15, 2010.
Bob was born and raised in the White and Benton County area. He worked for Spark Kelly running a crew doing blacktop for many years. Bob then before retirement he went into being a heavy equipment operator for Isom Construction contributing to the building of many structures and bridges. He truly enjoyed farming and working with his hands. He was former member of the Libanus Lodge F.&A.M. #154 from being raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason in 1984.
Bob is survived by his, children, Velma (husband Robert) Smiley of Wolcott, Indiana, Robert R. (wife Teresa) Barrett, Jr. of Wolcott, Indiana, Tim Barret and Richard "Rick" Barrett both of Monticello, Indiana, Deb Barrett of Minnesota, Jill Barrett of Indianapolis, Indiana, Rod (wife Diane) Weaver of Reynolds, Indiana, and Connie (husband Frank) Nolan of Monticello, Indiana; step-children, Kathy Dillman of Independence, Missouri, David (wife Bonnie) Rance of Monticello, Indiana, Melissa Clark of Indianapolis, Indiana; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Judy Wellman, Rex Barrett, Joe (wife Than) Barrett, Cyrus (wife Sandy) Barrett, Curt (wife Sandy) Barrett, and Danny (wife Sandy) Barrett; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lillian Barrett, Donna Dexter, Evelyn Voorhis, and Thomas "Tom" Barrett.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 (noon) until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana.
A Private Family Burial will take place in the Osborne Cemetery of rural Rensselaer, Indiana.
