Rolland "Steve" Gant, 82, of Monticello (formerly Rockfield), Indiana, died peacefully at 3:33 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025, in the Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center of Monticello, Indiana.

He was born on Wednesday, November 25, 1942, in Belleville, West Virginia to Gerald and Rosa (Board) Gant. They both preceded him in death

Steve was raised on the family farm in Newark, Ohio and went straight into the United States Army.  He moved to the area in the 1960's coming from Germany.  Steve was known for his work ethic and in his early years working for Bill Luse, helping build the Madam Caroll and Shafer Queen. Then worked at Indiana Beach running and maintaining the go-karts, antique cars, and bumper cars.  Steve managed the hanger plant of Monticello, Indiana for many years.  He also worked and operated the asphalt plant for Robert "Spark" Kelly for many years.  Steve then retired and spent his later years for the Indiana Beach Campground in the Maintenance Department.  He truly enjoyed his scratch off tickets and stopping by to seeing his grandkids and the daycare kids.

Steve is survived by his children, Diana (husband Mike) Litwin of Virginia, Shirley Reed of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Teresa (companion Kurt Nethercutt) Ringer of Monticello, Indiana, Rose (husband Kenny) Kelly of Monticello, Indiana, Sandi (husband Ralph) Smith of Monticello, Indiana, Gary (wife Ann) Gant of Monticello, Indiana, and James (wife Crystal) Gant of Monticello, Indiana; eighteen (18) grandchildren, Shawn (wife Casondra) Reed, Anton (husband Matt) Knueven, Amanda (companion Erik) Click, Cierra (husband Marcos) Gonzalez, Heather (husband Chris) Slaybaugh, Michael Garner, Tiffany (wife Destiny) Garner, Sara Kelly, Robby (wife Talhia) Lindley, Anthony (wife Katherine) Lindley, Cody (wife Dharma) Smith, Destiny (husband Chad) French, James Horvath, Tashia (husband Chris) Smith, Tanisha Criswell, Tammara (husband Jesse) Marvin, and Shantel (husband Jaren) Evans; twenty-eight (30) great grandchildren; siblings, Sharon Gant of Michigan, Timmy Gant of South Carolina, David Gant of Indiana, Mary (husband Charlie) Campbell of North Carolina, Suzy (husband Dennis) Brigman of Florida, Margaret Gant of Kentucky; sister-in-law, Deb Gant of Ohio; mother of his children/friend, Dorothy McMasters of Monticello, Indiana several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, friends, and best friend/dog Holly.

Steve is preceded in death by parents, siblings, Shirley Erickson, Nolan Gant, Gary E. Gant, Sonny Gant, Punky Gant; grandsons, Daniel Lee Garner and Bradley Allen Gant, nephews, Eric Erickson, and Chad Gant.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana with full military rites conducted by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard at 8:00 p.m.  Family request casual attire for all services.

A private family burial will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
