Ronald R. Young, 95 of Monticello, Indiana died Sunday, June 16, 2024, at 11:00 p.m. in the IU Health White Memorial Hospital of Monticello, Indiana.
Ronald was born on Sunday, February 10, 1929, in Superior, Nebraska to Vernon and Millie (Strine) Young. They both preceded him in death.
On February 10, 1956, in Wolcott, Indiana he married Marjorie J. "Jane" Young. She survives.
Ron was born and raised in Nebraska. He worked on the farms in Nebraska till joining the United States Army serving during the Korean War. Ron then moved to Remington, Indiana where he began driving truck hauling milk. He then went to work for Daily Express of Carlisle Pennsylvania hauling heavy equipment, retiring after 50 years of safe driving. Ron was a member of the Monticello American Legion Post 81 of Monticello, Indiana. He enjoyed gardening, watching NASCAR, fishing, and avid fan of his grandchildren's sporting and school events.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Marjorie J. "Jane" Young of Monticello, Indiana; daughters, Deb (husband Mike) Foutch of Monticello, Indiana, Brenda (husband Scott) Elizalde of Monticello, Indiana, and Sandi Chambers of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Brandon (wife Amanda) Foutch of Brookston, Indiana, Jerrad Foutch of Burnettsville, Indiana, Samantha (husband Levi) Chitty of Chalmers, Indiana, Tyler Elizalde of Monticello, Indiana, and Taylor (Wife Anna) Elizalde of Westfield, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Tori Woods, Taylor Woods, Lexi Foutch, Avery Foutch, Beckett Elizalde, Brier Elizalde, Luke Elizalde, Sam Elizalde, and Walter Chitty; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Mille Young; sisters, Wauneta Packwood and Leota Clark; brothers, Alfred Young, Delmer Young.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana
Celebration of life service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana with Elder Jay Janke officiating.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F Riverview Cemetery of rural Monticello, Indiana with full Military Rites conducted by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard of Monticello, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be given to the White County Council on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home, or can be mailed to 601 Gordon Rd. Monticello, IN 47960 C/O Young Family.
