Stephen Alan Fansler, 75, of Monticello, Indiana, died on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 1:16 a.m. in the Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center at a short battle with cancer.

Stephen was born on Sunday, June 27, 1948, in Logansport, Indiana to Harold J. and Marian M. (Mourer) Fansler. They both preceded him in death.

On Saturday, November 4, 1978, in Monticello, Indiana, he married Patricia Jane "Patty" Clawson.  She died on Wednesday, April 11, 2012.

Stephen had lived in the Monticello area his entire life. He was a United State Marine Corp. veteran, serving during Vietnam.  Stephen was an active member in the Marine Corps League, the American Legion Post #81, and VFW Post #2231 all of Monticello, Indiana.

Stephen is survived by his children, Aaron H. Fansler of Parker City, Indiana and April C. Fansler of Downers Grove, Illinois; six grandchildren; and a sister, Cynthia Fansler Davis of Greenfield, Indiana.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Harold J. and Marian M. Fansler; wife, Patricia Fansler; and brother, Mike Fansler.

Graveside Services with full Military Rites will be conducted by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard and the Marine Corp League at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, in the Hickory Grove Cemetery of rural Delphi, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Marine Corps League Michael Walters Detachment 1411. Envelopes will be available at the Deibels Funeral Home or can be mailed to 601 Gordon Rd., Monticello, Indiana 47960 C/O Fansler Family.
