Suella Ruby "Sue" (Ross) Diggs, 88 of Monticello, Indiana, died on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 7:05 a.m. surrounded by her loving family.

Sue was born on Saturday, May 2, 1936, in Hammond, Indiana, to Charles A. and Millie Ross, they preceded her in death.

On Saturday, July 21, 1951, she married Donald L. Diggs.  He died on Wednesday, August 31, 2005.

Sue was raised in Northern Indiana, moving to Buck Creek spending most of her life Monon, Indiana.  She owned and operated a flower shop and a ceramic shop for many years. Sue started working for Walmart in Monticello when it opened and worked there for several years.  She had worked at Indiana Beach running Kiddieland rides for several years. Sue enjoyed knitting and crocheting when she was able.  She was known for occasionally going scuba diving with her late husband Donald.  Sue loved animals and took in many strays and rescued several others.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed her tablet including her games and social media.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Deborah (husband Bob) Newgent of Monticello, Indiana; son, Darrell (wife Linda) Diggs of Monticello, Indiana; grandchildren, Josh (wife Nichole) Diggs, Mackenzie (Mark Allen) Newgent, and Robert (Brandi Oberle) Newgent all of Monticello, Indiana, Jon (wife Julie) Kelley of San Jose, California, and Maggie (husband Thomas) Smith of Buford, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Sophia, and Gabriella Diggs, Bear, Oaken, and Rain Allen, Wyatt and Willow Newgent, Malcolm and Inara Smith;

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Charles A. and Millie Ross; husband, Donald L. Diggs, daughter, Danon Ream; brothers, Don and Wayne Ross.

A graveside memorial service will be held at the Bedford Cemetery of rural Monon, Indiana, on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Zell of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior of Monticello, Indiana officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be given to Happy Tail Animal Shelter. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or can be mailed to 601 Gordon Rd., Monticello, IN 47960 C/O Diggs Family.
