"Bud" Collins

Virgil L. "Bud" Collins, age 89, of Monticello, Indiana went to be with his Savior at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 with his wife and family by his side.
Virgil was born on Monday, September 16, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas to Emma (McGillem) and John C. Collins. They both preceded him in death.
On Thursday, June 16, 1960, in San Antonio, Texas he married the love of his life, Virginia F. Dabbs, and they have been blessed with 64 wonderful years together. She survives.
Bud was a graduate of the South San High School in Texas. He spent 26 years living in Texas, Bud later went on to join the Army serving during the 1960's. He had lived in San Antonio, Texas, Anchorage, Alaska, Greensburg, Indiana, Frankfort, Indiana, and finally rested in Monticello, Indiana since 1971. Bud had owned and operated several exterminations companies, retiring after 74 years in the business. A member of our community for 57 years, businessman, little league coach, Twin Lakes School athletics fan and sponsor. Bud was a father, grandfather, great grandfather, and devout Christian. He was a member of the Rock Hill Gospel Church in New Braunfels, Texas and the Calvary Temple Church of Monticello, Indiana. Bud also belonged to the American Legion Post #81 of Monticello, Indiana. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Bud is survived by his wife, Virginia F. "Ginny" Collins of Monticello, Indiana; children, Micheal L. "Mike" (companion Stacy Pfrommer) Collins of Monticello, Indiana, Connie Collins (husband Shane) Wyant of Lafayette, Indiana, Joy Collins Major of Morrison, Tennessee, Robert J. "Bobby" (companion Dawn Sweeney) Collins of Monticello, Indiana, Virgil "Bubba" (wife Louise) Bell of New Braunfels, Texas, Vicki (husband Augie) Podsednik of Canyon Lake, Texas, and Patricia (husband Richard) Shook of New Braunfels, Texas,.24 Grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and with one on the way; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Emma (McGillem) and John C. Collins, sister, Irene Huff, brothers, Frank, Eugene, Clark, Clarence, and Joseph Collins, grandson Aaron Percell.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 (noon) until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the Deibels Funeral Home, 601 Gordon Road, Monticello, Indiana.
A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana starting with full military honors conducted by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard and followed by Pastor Charlie Roberts, of the Calvary Temple House of Hope and Healing Church officiation. Burial will follow at Yeoman Cemetery of rural Carroll County, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Rock Hill Gospel Church (1121 Oasis St., New Braunfels, TX 78130) or to Calvary Temple Church (1218 W. Broadway St., Monticello, IN 47960).
