Wanda Sue
(Salomon) Finley
September 9, 1939 – February 14, 2025
Wanda Sue Finley, 85, of Monticello, Indiana, went to be with her Lord and Saviour at 2:41 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana, with her loving family surrounding her.
Wanda was born on Saturday, September 9, 1939, in Monticello, Indiana to Lyle and Myrtle L. (Mitscher) Salomon. They both preceded her in death.
Wanda was a 1957 graduate of the Twin Lakes High School of Monticello, Indiana. She then went on to graduate from Indiana Business College in Lafayette, Indiana with a degree in Secretarial. Wanda was a devoted Christian and serving her Lord. She had spent time working with the homeless on "Skidrow" in New York, taking care of children, and the homeless most all of her life. Wanda witnessed to all to bring them closer to Jesus. She had gone of several Mission Trips throughout the years. Wanda had a love for music and self-taught herself the piano, saxophone, and accordion all before she was 12. She had a beautiful singing voice and was asked to sing at many of the state festivals around Indiana. She also had a love for animals and rescued many pets over the years, her last being Leroy Brown the Pitbull or better referred to the spoiled lap dog. Wanda had a horse Leo the Leopard Appaloosa, and they were extremely good friends. Wanda was a member of the Lake Shafer Christian Center and attended when she was able.
Wanda is survived by her sons, Robert Paul (wife Mona) Finley of Sullivan, Indiana, and Ron (wife Karen) Finley of Monticello, Indiana, daughter, Paula Coonrod of Monticello, Indiana, grandchildren, Caleb (wife Shoko) Finley of Japan, Kaylyn (husband Chris) Wardell of Sullivan, Indiana, Camron Finley of Sullivan, Indiana, Austin Finley of Conway, South Carolina, Charlie Coonrod of Royal Center, Indiana, Cramer Coonrod of Monticello, Indiana, Nick Storey of Riverside, California and Steven Storey of Indianapolis, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Anne Finley, Ray Finley, Khloye Wardell, Emette Wardell, Amelia Wardell, Aidan Coonrod, Tim Coonrod, and Charlie Coonrod.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Myrtle L. (Mitscher) Salomon.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Faith Covenant Fellowship Church of 1010 W Washington Street, Monticello, IN 47960.
A celebration of Wanda's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Faith Covenant Fellowship Church of Monticello, Indiana with Rev. W. "Dave" Trout officiating.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery of rural Monticello, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Lake Shafer Christian Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home, church, or can be mailed to 1765 N. W. Shafer Dr., Monticello, IN 47960 C/O Finley Family.
