William Henry "Bill" Weigle, 79, of Monticello, Indiana died after a long battle with cancer at 8:50 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at his residence in Monticello, Indiana.

Bill was born on Friday, September 27, 1946, in Logansport, Indiana to Delbert Earl and Mary Etta "May" (Sutton) Weigle. They both preceded him in death.

In 1968 he married Sandra K. Neely, and they later divorced but, remained friends until her passing on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

Bill was a graduate of the Monticello High School. He then went straight into the United States Marine Corps where he served during the Vietnam Era. He served his country proudly and felt passionate about it till the day he died. Bill was member of the Redmens Lodge Conawaugh Tribe #518, F.O.E #2570 (Fraternal Order of Eagles), and a life member of the VFW Post #2231 where he served as Quarter Master for several years. Bill was also a former member of the Monticello American Legion Post 81.  He was known for his witty laugh and the fact that he never knew a stranger. 

Bill is survived by his daughter, Samantha "Sam" L. Weigle of Monticello, Indiana; sons, Patrick D. Weigle of Monticello, Indiana and Anthony "Tony" Weigle of Peru, Indiana; grandchildren, Tabitha "Tabby" Potts, Cheryl (Stephen) Potts, Cody Weigle and Ciera Weigle; great-grandchildren, Ricardo Desantiago, and Grace Plew; brother, Michael L. Weigle of Greenwood, Indiana; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert Earl Weigle and Kenneth Earl Weigle.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2026, at the Deibels Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana, concluding with full military rites conducted by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard at 7:00 p.m.

Per Bill's wishes a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the Monticello VFW Post #2231 of Monticello, Indiana.

A private family burial will take place in the Brookston I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Brookston, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the family to assist with Bill's wishes and setting of his stone Bill's Honor.
